The current Premier League leaders have identified Swansea’s Wilfried Bony as a transfer target and are willing to fight off Manchester City and Liverpool to sign him.

While City and Liverpool will likely make moves for the forward in January, Jose Mourinho is preprared to wait until the summer safe in the mind that he has adequate squad depth to push on for the title.

The West London club also believe that a sum of money and Loic Remy will be enough to see the powerhouse striker at Stamford Bridge when Swansea are ready to sell.

The Welsh club will be very reluctant to let their star man, who scored 20 goals in 2014, leave the Liberty this month.

However the Blues have time to prepare a bid after club veteran Didier Drogba recommended his former international team-mate to Chelsea scout Mick Doherty, claiming that the striker’s pace, strength and explosiveness in the box is exactly what the Blues need.

Doherty watched on from Anfield as Swansea were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool last week, while scouts from Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool all saw Bony score the equaliser at Loftus Road on New Year’s day.
