€70m Manchester City Target Asks Parent Club For Space To Think

Rodri has asked Atletico Madrid to give him some space to consider his future as interests chime in from Premier League giants, Manchester City.

The central midfielder is being heavily wooed by the English champions as they look for someone to succeed an ageing Fernandinho. Rodrigo’s release clause is reported to be worth around €70m.

Pep Guardiola already has a stacked squad at the Etihad but he will need to address the defensive midfield and left-back spots this summer. Fernandinho turned 34 in May and although he does not look like slowing down anytime soon, the stress of playing a full season without a backup might be too much for the veteran.

Speaking to Deportes Cuatro, the Rodrigo said: “I asked the club for peace of mind to give me space. It would be hypocritical to say that I can guarantee anything.

“The only thing I can say is that I have a contract with Atletico Madrid, I have a clause, I have some conditions and today I am happy here. I cannot say anything else because I do not know what’s going to happen.”

Atletico Madrid have already been shocked with the news of Antoine Griezmann revealing his wishes to leave this summer. Thomas Partey is also being targetted by a number of European heavy hitters.
