Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has declined to respond to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s recent remarks about Alexander Isak and the Magpies’ status.
Eddie Howe avoids war of words with Arne Slot regarding Alexander Isak saga

Slot suggested that Isak’s current fitness issue might stem from his time at a “smaller club,” a comment that has drawn significant attention.
The context involves Isak’s high-profile £125 million summer move from Newcastle to Liverpool.
The Swedish striker recently left a Champions League match with a groin problem, prompting Slot to state that a player moving from a smaller club might face challenges adapting to the demands at Liverpool.
When asked if he felt the need to defend Newcastle’s reputation in light of the “smaller club” label, Howe offered a measured and diplomatic response.
“I don’t have to do that, I don’t feel,” he stated.
“But you obviously know what my answer would be.”
He firmly added, “I don’t think that’s wise, for me to get involved in those discussions.
Alex is no longer at this football club, so I won’t comment on it.”
While avoiding a direct confrontation, Howe launched a strong defence of Newcastle’s infrastructure and medical care.
He praised the club’s owners for significantly developing the facilities and highlighted ongoing building work aimed at further improvement.
“The set-up here is very good,” Howe affirmed.
“We’ve got elite athletes here, many of them, and touch wood, we’re managing them pretty well at the moment.”
In more positive news for Newcastle fans, Howe also discussed midfielder Sandro Tonali, who recently signed a contract extension despite his previous gambling ban.
Howe credited the incredible support from the club and its fans for helping Tonali through a difficult period, noting the player has been “brilliant since returning to football.”
Howe’s team now turns its focus to its upcoming Premier League match against Fulham.
