Eddie Howe believes there are only a few teams who could match their counter attacking threat following Bournemouth’s stupendous 4-0 win over Chelsea.
The Cherries exploited the Blues defence with great precision as the backline crumbled like a pack of cards whenever the home side pressed hard.
Joshua King scored a brace while David Brooks and Charlie Daniels also registered their name on the score sheet as Vitality stadium witnessed Chelsea’s heaviest defeat in 23 years.
Consecutive top flight defeats have put a heavy blow to their top four hopes. The Blues have slipped down to the fifth position and with a number of challenging fixtures ahead, Maurizio Sarri needs to rectify things pretty quickly in a bid to restore normalcy at the Stamford Bridge.
Howe said: “We hoped to give the best account of ourselves, and one aspect of our play was very good. Our counter-attacking was superb tonight in both the first half and second half – the first half without any reward, the second we got the goals.
“It was a brilliant defensive display. So many players throughout the team really excelled in that discipline, so it’s been a good night.
“We rode our luck at times but the way we counter-attacked we were devastating at times, and that’s what I’ll take away from tonight.”
