Chelsea star’s Dad defends son’s decision to come off against Leicester City

Chelsea star Eden Hazard DIDN’T fake an injury against Leicester City, according to his own father.

The Belgian international went down after a challenge by Jamie Vardy and appeared to suffer some discomfort in his hip.

Hazard walked off the pitch over to the dugout when Jose Mourinho asked him to try run it off and continue, but the midfielder himself insisted that he couldn’t continue and walked off down the tunnel.

Chelsea went on to lose the game to Leicester City 2-1, and after the game, questions were asked about the injury to Hazard and whether it was enough to remove him from the game.

Mourinho himself was unsure in the post-match interview, but Hazard’s father has defended his son and insisted that he didn’t fake an injury just to come off.

Hazard Defended by Father

“These are stories that are invented when things go bad,” he told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

“Do you really think Eden would feign an injury in such an important match?

“No, he really hurt his hip.”

No Relationship Issues

He also revealed that there are no problems between Hazard and Mourinho despite others suggesting that there could be a strain in their relationship.

He added: “He’s still pretty cool underneath. Every footballer has such periods of adversity.

“Eden will continue to work hard. For Mourinho, yes. They really are still the same.”
