Eden Hazard had doubts over Diego Costa’s age

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard could be set for a Diego Costa telling off after the Belgian said he thought the new signing was older than his current age of 25.

Costa joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid this summer for a ÂŁ32 million fee, after being in Spain since he was just 18 following a move to Atletico from Braga in 2007.

And Hazard was quick to doubt the Spanish international’s age, saying:

”He looks old, I think he’s old. He is 25 but I don’t know if that is true.” He said, whilst speaking to Soccer AM.

But Hazard followed up the comment by praising the impact the striker has had since arriving at Stamford Bridge, and cited him and Cesc Fabregas as key player for the club.

”They are very good. I think Diego and Cesc will play very well now that they are in the team.”

The duo got off to a good start on the opening weekend of the Premier League as their Chelsea side beat Burnley 3-1, with both new signings having an instant impact with a goal (Costa) and two Fabregas assists.

It’s likely to be the first of many for Costa in a Chelsea shirt with room to improve at just 25, much to Hazard’s bemusement.
