After failing to sign Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona are now willing to sign Belgium skipper and Chelsea star Eden Hazard according to reports. Barcelona will now have to go up against Real Madrid with whom Hazard has been heavily linked. With the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, several sources have claimed that Real Madrid were keen to acquire the signature of the Belgium international.
The 27-year old winger has a contract at Stamford Bridge till 2020 but did not rule out a move away from Chelsea. Hazard claimed to have ‘dreamed’ of playing for Los Blancos. He had previously expressed his desire to play for Real Madrid under Zidane. Despite Zizou’s departure in May, Hazard still desires to play for the European powerhouses.
Before the semi-final against France, the Belgium captain said, ““Does Real make me dream less without Zidane? Zidane is someone special, it’s true, but I think Real is everyone’s dream. Zidane or no Zidane, the white jersey of Madrid is special.”
The Spanish giants had set a slush fund worth £88 million for Antoine Griezmann but now that amount has been earmarked for Hazard. However, Hazard’s contract and stature will make it pretty difficult for even Real Madrid to land him as Chelsea won’t be willing to let go of him any time soon.
Hazard himself has also claimed that it won’t bother him if he stays at Stamford Bridge. “The blue jersey of Chelsea suits me well, so it does not bother me if I stay,” said the 27-year old.
