Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has dismissed talks linking striker Edin Dzeko with a move away from the club.

The Bosnian striker has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium due to the arrival of Alvaro Negredo, and also due to the impressive form of Sergio Aguero.

With this in mind, it was Premier League rivals Arsenal that were tempted to make a Winter bid for the striker as they look to bolster up their options up-front, but Pellegrini has put an end to all the speculation by confirming that Dzeko is not for sale.

“No, that is not the case [that Dzeko could be sold],”

Pellegrini said. “I put my trust in him before the season and I have just as much trust in him now. It is very important for this club to have a good squad because we have a lot of games to play from now until April and, if we want to win trophies, we need important players.

“Maybe at the moment he is not playing as much as he would like, but he remains an important part of the squad.”
