The player is a proposed target for Chelsea and Liverpool  this summer

Bosnian international, Edin Dzeko, is set to remain with Manchester City this summer – according to his agent.

Dzeko is just one of a number of players at City who are deemed surplus to requirements, as Manuel Pellegrini prepares for an overhaul of his squad, following a trophy-less campaign at Eastlands.

With Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony currently ahead of him in the pecking order – Dzeko is unlikely to feature on a regular basis, should he decide to stay next season.

SEVERAL CLUBS KEEN ON DZEKO’S SERVICES:

And having netted six times for the Citizens last term, the 29-year-old is unwilling to depart the club who he signed for in the January 2011 – despite interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and former club Wolfsburg, all keen on his services.

Brendan Rodgers is keen to take the forward to Anfield – as he looks to add to his attacking depth for next season, with the trio of Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, and Rickie Lambert all set to leave for pastures new.

However, despite reports linking him with a move away, it appears that City officials will have a fight on their hands, to offload Dzeko, whose agent claims that the internationally capped player is happy to see out his contract at the club – which expires in 2018.

His agent Irfan Redzepagic said: “Every day he is linked to some other club. I am bored of repeating those stories are not true.

“Edin has contract with Man City until 2018 and is happy at the club.”

It is unclear what the future holds for Dzeko, who will want first-team football to cement his place in Bosnia’s squad, should they qualify for the European Championships in France, next summer.

Meanwhile, one player who will certainly leave is fellow forward Stevan Jovetic, who looks set for a return to the Italian Serie A.
