Premier League quartet dealt striker blow

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has rubbished reports that he’s on his way to the Premier League.

The Uruguayan has been heavily linked with leaving France all season after reportedly growing tired of his new role on the wing to accommodate for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Laurent Blanc strongly favours the 4-3-3 formation which includes playing Cavani on the wing, which is a position he doesn’t like playing and that has lead to speculation surrounding his future.

Further fuel was added to the fire after Cavani was recently subbed off during a Ligue 1 match. The striker was less than impressed with being taken off and made his feelings clear to Blanc on the touchline.

With all the speculation surrounding the striker, four of the Premier League’s biggest clubs have all shown interest in him with Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all keen on bringing him to England.

Staying Put in Paris

However, in a recent interview, the 28-year-old rubbished the reports and stated that he’s staying in France with PSG.

He told Sky Italia: “There is too much talk about my future but I will remain here.

“I will respect my contract and I’m only focusing on doing well for PSG.”

These Cavani comments come just days after the club’s president Nasser Al-Kehaifi also confirmed that the striker would be staying put in Paris.

Al-Kehaifi said: “Edinson Cavani is a player I really like.

“I can tell you that he is very much with us, and the question of his departure does not arise.

“Paris loves him and he loves Paris.”
