Paris Saint-Germain star could be on his way out of club

According to a source close to him, Edinson Cavani wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain over the Summer in order to have a main striker role.

The Uruguayan star has been deployed on the wing in Paris due to Laurent Blanc preferring a 4-3-3 formation with Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing through the middle up front as the lone-man.

However, Cavani is reportedly frustrated with playing out of position and wants to move to a club where he can be used as a striker.

The 28-year-old was clinical during his time at Napoli when he was the main-man up front, but since moving to PSG, he has failed to show his old form.

Source Reveals Exit Plan

According to fresh reports, Cavani is considering his future and will leave the club if a chance arises for him to play as a striker.

A source close to him said: “There is no question that he will only stay one one more season if the sporting situation doesn’t change. This is the bottom line.

“Edinson understood that, in the interests of the team, he had to play on the right side and he has done that for two years now.

“But that’s not to say that the position suits him.

“He wants to play at the axis of the attack – his preferred position – and not only when Ibrahimovic is absent.

“He needs continuity in that position to fully express the qualities that made him a top scorer in Italy.”

Premier League Interest

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all shown interest in Cavani in recent months and are all expected to be looking for a striker come the end of the season.

Arsenal only have Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as options currently, whilst Liverpool are heavily reliant on an injury-prone Daniel Sturridge and United could lose both Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie.
