Arsenal boss Unai Emery hopes that Lucas Torreira will be fit for their match against Everton on Sunday. The Uruguayan defensive midfielder made his first start for Arsenal in their Europa League opener against Vorskla Poltava. However, he had to leave the field in the 57th minute due to a knee injury. Matteo Guendouzi replaced him.

Emery doesn’t know the full extent of Torreira’s injury but he is hopeful that the 22-year old will play against Everton. Emery said, “Each match we play, I am responsible for the group and for Torreira also. I hope that (after) tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, he will be OK for Sunday.

Lucas is playing with his progress on the team and on our ideas. Each minute he is playing, he is doing very well.”

Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria this summer. However, his five appearances in the Premier League were all as a substitute since Unai Emery preferred Matteo Guendouzi.

However, hopefully the Uruguayan can recover from his knee injury soon and be back in action for The Gunners.
