Emery says there is still room for improvement

Arsenal boss Unai Emery feels that despite being on a 9-match winning run, Arsenal can even get better. Emery’s start as Arsenal manager was a poor one as Arsenal lost their first two league games against Manchester City and Chelsea. However, they have come back strongly by winning the next 9 matches that have followed. Arsenal are in a really good position to register their 10th win in a row when they take on Leicester City.

Emery’s impact on the club in just a few months has been pretty remarkable given the fact that he replaced someone who managed Arsenal for more than two decades, someone who’s footballing style was very different than his own. Emery said, “We are doing the things better in our way, but we also need to continue improving, getting better, because we won more consecutive matches but we also need to improve our control in the game. Every match, every team has solutions and quality to give us problems, and Leicester is the same. Our success every day is work, continuing to work hard to improve these things.”

The former Sevilla and PSG manager also said that there is plenty of competition in the Premier League but his team can match top teams. He said, “It’s competition. Here there are more competitive teams, and with the best players at Man City and Chelsea and Liverpool and Tottenham. Can we stay with them in the table? We are close but in two matches against them we lost and our challenge is to continue to find a performance for these different [games] to get closer to beating them.”

Arsenal take on Leicester City today at the Emirates Stadium.
