Sam Allardyce is contemplating calling the midfielder up to the England squad for the side’s games next month

Jesse Lingard could be set for another call-up to the England squad, according to reports today.

The Man United man has impressed so far this season for the Red Devils, with a string of consistently good first-team performances. Not only has he been able to setup goals for his teammates but – as shown in his side’s 4-1 win against Leicester – he certainly knows where the back of the net is. He’s bagged four goals so far this season.

These good showings have thrown him back into the reckoning for a call-up to the national side.

Could win first cap

Although he has yet to win a cap for the senior side, he has previously been called up to the squad back when Roy Hodgson was manager and this time around he could finally get that first cap.

Allardyce is set to name the squad that he will be calling up for the games against Malta and Slovenia on Sunday and don’t be surprised if Lingard is on the list of names getting a call-up.

However, the only current issue is what is happening with Sam Allardyce. He has been caught taking payment in exchange for advice on how to avoid third-party ownership (More on that story here) and so he could risk losing his job before the next round of games.
