“He Kept Stamping on Me”: Haaland Criticizes Fernandez After City’s Win
Erling Haaland didn’t hold back in his post-match comments following Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, where he called out Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez for his on-pitch antics.
Haaland, who opened the scoring in the 20th minute, had a heated battle with Fernandez throughout the match, and the Norwegian striker was quick to share his frustrations.
Speaking to the media after the game, Haaland accused the Argentine of repeatedly trying to provoke him.

“Enzo Fernandez kept stamping on me, pushing, doing everything to throw me off my game,” Haaland remarked, clearly annoyed by the Chelsea midfielder’s tactics.
“It’s like that’s what they’re trained to do. But I’m here to score goals, not get involved in that.”
The tension between the two was evident early in the game, with the pair clashing during a set piece within the first ten minutes.
As the match progressed, their confrontations only intensified, culminating in a heated exchange of words.
Haaland, however, had the last laugh, not only by scoring but also by securing another three points for Manchester City on the opening weekend.
But Fernandez wasn’t the only Chelsea player in Haaland’s crosshairs. The prolific striker also had a run-in with Marc Cucurella, who had earlier claimed he could intimidate Haaland.
The City forward made sure to settle that score, brushing off Cucurella with ease before slotting the ball past Robert Sanchez for City’s first goal.
