Being laden with title-less seasons, sleeping German giants Borussia Dortmund are looking to redeem themselves in the spotlight. With the addition of Erling Haaland to the squad, the tables may turn for them.
Following an exceptional debut for the “black and yellows”, Haaland’s impact to the Bundesliga and Europe surely just started.
The Norwegian wonderkid may be Dortmund’s missing puzzle piece in their struggling attack in recent seasons. They managed to sign him for an estimated fee of transfer €20 million from Red Bull Salzburg during the winter transfer window.
The young lad didn’t fail Lucien Favre’s side as he made an immediate impact to the club with a hat-trick against Augsburg. He went on to score seven goals in his first three Bundesliga games for the club.
Haaland stepped up against French champions Paris Saint-Germain. He was instrumental in their first leg as he scored two goals that secured their victory at Signal Iduna Park. Eventually, they fell to the Parisians in the second leg.
The young prospect ended his debut season for Dortmund with 16 goals in 18 appearances for the club. These numbers are a peek into the Norwegian’s true potential. He is also making an immediate introduction in the international scene, scoring 3 goals in his first two games for Norway in the UEFA Nations League.
Haaland felt from the beginning that he and Dortmund were a good match, given that the club needed a lethal playing style up front to follow the styles of Robert Lewandowski and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
“I’m quite a direct player – if I could choose, I’d just go straight towards the goal and score,” he said.
With the likes of Thorgan Hazard and Jadon Sancho (currently heavily linked to a transfer at Manchester United), Haaland will be looking to help Dortmund regain the black and yellow’s glory in Germany and Europe.
