Borussia Dortmund don’t have to worry about losing Erling Braut Haaland just yet even if the summer transfer window is closing in.
They only signed him from Red Bull Salzburg in January for a fee in the region of €20 million. Manchester United wanted him at the time but Haaland chose BVB.
At Signal Iduna Park, he did not fail to impress, scoring 13 goals in 15 Bundesliga games along with a hat-trick on his debut. He now collectively has 44 goals in 40 games for the 2019/20 season which is astounding for a teenager. There is no doubt that he will think about moving on from Dortmund if they fail to match his level of ambitions in terms of trophies.
However, right now, the Norwegian believes his career should continue with Dortmund. He told WAZ, “I live in the present. I have just arrived in Dortmund and I’m not thinking of leaving for now. Dortmund are one of the biggest clubs in the world. I have signed a long-term contract and I don’t think too much about the future.
“I decide what is the best thing for my career here and now. I want to achieve something important with Borussia, not always be second, but also win the title as soon as possible. The next year we set targets, we want to score as many goals, and I as a striker want to contribute.”
There are reports that Haaland has a €70m release clause in his contract. That would be a steal for a striker of his pedigree.
