Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has all but revealed the Blues’ interest in signing Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

“I’m sure there are a lot of players linked with us,” said Zola during Tuesday’s news conference before they meet Bournemouth on Wednesday evening. “Callum is doing well and is of interest not only for us but for many.”

Zola added: “He’s strong, fast, and he sees the goal. I like him because he’s also strong in the air, which is a very important quality, but I don’t want to go into it too much. He’s doing very well and I’m pleased for him.”

Zola feels the English striker has lots of qualities and can go a long way if he maintains his current efforts.

The Blues are in crisis up front despite playing attacking football under new coach Maurizio Sarri. The wingers like Hazard and Willian have more license and freedom to create havoc but they have not been backed by strikers with goals with both Giroud and Morata failing to fire regularly in the league. It has been such a situation that Hazard has had to play as a false nine for Sarri, thereby showing the problems Chelsea have upfront.
