Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Gunners main target to push for the title

Arsenal have made a £44.7million bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.

The Gabon front man has been in sensational form this season, scoring 24 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions.

If the deal were to happen, it would break the club’s current transfer record when they signed this season’s star player Mesut Ozil for £42.5m in 2013.

Transfer speculation

The 26-year-old has been identified a top target for a number of clubs around Europe but it appears Arsenal are looking to make a move quickly.

According to Spanish journalist Kike Marin, the Gunners have already made contact with the German club about a potential move.

Aubameyang missed a training session with Dortmund earlier this week, which sparked avid rumours he could be on his way out the club.

However, it has been confirmed that he missed training due to attending the African Player of the Year award, where he won the crown ahead of Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.
