He has decided to stay in France
Arsenal’s late offer for Lille full-back Djibril Sidibe didn’t pay off after he joined another Ligue 1 outfit in AS Monaco.
The 23-year old has put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal in Monaco, despite Arsene Wenger’s best attempts to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
It is believed the Frenchman is chasing a left-back, because Kieran Gibbs’ future at the Gunners is in doubt.
However, Sidibe, who can play as a right-back or a left-back, snubbed Arsenal to continue his development in France.
Now Wenger and co. must turn their attention to other full-back targets, namely Ricardo Rodriguez of VfL Wolfsburg and Switzerland.
