Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Manchester United reportedly keen to bring the 25-year-old to England.
United manager Jose Mourinho is rumoured to be preparing a deal worth around £215,000 per week, whilst accessing the advice of Griezmann’s French international colleague Paul Pogba to help sweeten the deal.
Former Arsenal ace Paul Merson believes that his former club should try and hijack any proposed deal.
Merson told TalkSport: “They pay top dollar those Arsenal fans.
“When you’re paying that kind of money you have to be watching world class footballers at the club. You can’t just have two – you should have five and six in my opinion.
“With Griezmann, people go ‘they’ve (Arsenal) got that kind of player’. They haven’t. They’ve got two of them but they could do with another one.
“For me there isn’t a club in the world that wouldn’t want Griezmann.”
Griezmann is currently under contract with Atletico until 2021.
