Facundo Buonanotte’s loan at Chelsea was terminated this window, and Leeds United has finalised a deal for him. The 21-year-old Buonanotte signed a season-long contract with Stamford Bridge from Brighton, but he returned to his original club before being permitted to go for the remainder of the season.

To bolster Daniel Farke’s team, Leeds made queries earlier this week about a loan deal for the Argentina international, and they now have their man. Buonanotte will fight for a spot across the forward line, which has been headed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, while Jack Harrison has been permitted to depart for Fiorentina.

Chelsea stormed in and signed the winger for the 2025–2026 campaign, despite Leeds’ interest in signing Buonanotte last summer and their seeming position to do so. However, under former head coach Enzo Maresca, he found it difficult to establish himself in Chelsea’s first-team plans, making only one appearance in the Premier League this season and seven more appearances in domestic and European cup tournaments.

Buonanotte joins Leeds as Chelsea loan cut short

Facundo Buonanotte, a midfielder for Brighton, has joined Leeds on loan after his brief stint at Chelsea was cut short. The 21-year-old Buonanotte signed a season-long loan with Chelsea in September, although he only played in one Premier League game for them.

The twice-capped Argentina international participated in seven more games for the Blues in various competitions, including their 5-1 FA Cup third-round victory against Charlton on Saturday. Leeds describes him as a flexible left-footer who can play in central areas behind the striker, on either wing, or in a deeper role. He has transferred to Elland Road till the conclusion of the current campaign.

Buonanotte made 50 appearances for Brighton after joining from Rosario Central in 2023. Last season, he was loaned to Leicester, where he played 35 games and scored six goals.
