Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Chelsea defender Andreas Christiansen.

He was loaned in the summer to German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

But he may be recalled after Kurt Zouma suffered an injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with the Red Devils.

With John Terry seemingly on his way out of Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, Chelsea may suddenly find themselves short of cover at the heart of their defence.

The defender, 19, is being courted by a number of clubs, also including Manchester City.

Gladbach are keen to extend Christiansen’s loan, as he has impressed for them this season.

“Our intention is to try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer,” sporting director Max Eberl said.

“Andreas fulfils everything we’ve seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts.”

Despite the interest shown, Chelsea are not keen to let him go. Prior to leaving for Germany, he had made just one Premier League appearance for the Blues.
