Chelsea ace keen to temper title expectations

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have hit their stride in recent weeks, and enjoyed a sixth straight win yesterday, coupled with another clean sheet.

They have not conceded a goal in 590 minutes of Premier League football, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil the last player to score against the Blues back in September.

Chelsea were eight points behind Manchester City earlier this season, but now find themselves top of the table.

Despite the Stamford Bridge juggernaut showing no signs of slowing down, David Luiz is keen to take things one game at a time.

Luiz rejoined the Blues on transfer deadline day, and has warned that the hard work is only just starting, with games against Manchester City and Tottenham to come.

Luiz said: “It is the first time in the season that we are top of the League, but we have to understand that it is just the beginning.

“We have done an amazing job, but we need to keep our feet on the floor, act with humility, because every game is tough.

“It’s important to finish in the top of the league.

“Of course we are happy to be first now but it’s too early to speak about that so it’s important (after) the last game to finish in the top of the league, that’s our goal.”
