Chelsea manager-to-be Conte warned: Senior players want legend back

Antonio Conte has been warned that if he takes the Chelsea manager’s job that senior players want Didier Drogba back at the club.

Conte is hot favourite to take the Stamford Bridge hotseat, even more so after Diego Simeone pledged his future to Atletico Madrid earlier today.

But it seems player power, which did for Jose Mourinho in his second spell at the club, is still very much in effect.

Blues legend Drogba, currently in the MLS with Montreal Impact, is still held in high esteem in West London, with former teammates and Blues fans.

His contract with the Impact is due to end when the new MLS season finishes.

And the Telegraph claims Chelsea’s bigwigs are determined to find a place for Drogba on the coaching staff, though he may be tempted by an ambassadorial role.

Conte wants to bring five coaches with him if and when, as expected, he signs the contract for the manager’s job at Chelsea.
