Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez, and set to prepare a £22m deal.

The Swiss, 23, almost joined the Blues’ Premier League rivals Arsenal this summer, however the deal did not happen.

And now Conte is preparing to swoop in. Rodriguez is renowned for his ability from set pieces and is able to play as a wing-back as well as at full-back, which fits Conte’s style.

The Italian is keen to switch Cesar Azpilicueta from left-back to right-back, which would mean Rodriguez coming in on the left, should a deal be completed.

Rodriguez was a part of the Switzerland side that featured in the 2014 World Cup as well as Euro 2016. He has over 40 caps for his country, and was named Swiss Footballer of the Year in 2014.

He has drawn comparisons to Everton and England star Leighton Baines, due to his crossing ability and pinpoint left-foot.
