Morata almost a certain mover to The Premier League

Some transfer stories are a complete fabrication. Diego Costa to China was one of those. Some stories make sense but are unlikely. Messi to Manchester City is not entirely crazy. Joining up with his old friend and ex-boss Pep Guardiola makes sense and with new a contract not yet finalised at Barcelona, it could still be one of the moves of the century. Griezmann to Manchester United looked feasible on paper but the player in question is happy where he is. So a likely end to that story.

You’re coming with me Alvaro!

Possibly the most likely transfer rumour of recent times to materialise is concerning Alvaro Morata currently at Real Madrid. Despite interest from various Premier League clubs his number one choice as reported on our site yesterday is Chelsea. This story has now moved on to the next level from rumour to an odds on favourite with the bookies. The bookies don’t normally get it wrong and in this case so many factors are showing this as a near done deal.

Spanish website ‘Diario gol’ have reported of Morata’s impatience at lack of first team action at the Bernabeu. He is also keen to join up with his old boss from when he was on loan at Juventus, Antonio Conte. Morata has been in secret talks with Conte and it looks like a move is a near dead cert. Chelsea attempted to sign Morata in the last two transfer windows but failed. It’s reported a ÂŁ50 million fee will secure his services this time.

So do we have a deal Zizou?

There is also another factor that may weigh this move in Chelsea’s favour. This involves Real Madrid’s non stop pursuit of Thibault Courtois. We could see some kind of agreement between the two clubs involving both these players moving in opposite directions. A  signal this may already be underway was Chelsea’s search for a goalkeeper in the last January transfer window. Their bids for Celtic and Scotland number one keeper, Craig Gordon were not successful….so far that is!

Morata at Juventus, was managed by Conte

Weighing heavily on Conte’s mind is that next season Champions League football will return to Stamford Bridge. Current number two striker, Michy Bathshuayi is struggling to impress Conte at present. He may well find himself loaned out next season to build up his confidence. Diego Costa is unlikely to move on so we may see the exciting prospect of the two Spanish strikers starting regularly for Chelsea. Together with Hazard supporting them, that will be an even more formidable line up than they currently possess!
