Following a 1-0 Conference League final victory over Rayo Vallecano, Crystal Palace have won their first European championship. Early in the second half, Jean-Philippe Mateta, a striker for France, scored after rebounding a shot from Adam Wharton, a teammate.
The first European final between the two teams took place in Leipzig, Germany. Oliver Glasner, who is departing the team after two and a half years, will also go on a positive note as a result of the victory.
Glasner has assisted his club in winning the Community Shield against Liverpool and the FA Cup against Manchester City in addition to this achievement. Crystal Palace had never taken home a significant trophy before winning the FA Cup last season.
After being forced to drop from the Europa League to Europe’s third-tier league in 2025 due to ownership concerns, the squad has recently had to overcome a number of significant obstacles. They also ended 15th in the Premier League and were shockingly eliminated from the FA Cup by non-league Macclesfield.

After defeating Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, Crystal Palace are enjoying their win in the UEFA Conference League. The sole goal was scored by Jean-Philippe Mateta as the Eagles won 1-0 in Leipzig and took home European trophies. Prior to last season, Palace had never won a major trophy; however, they have since won the Community Shield, the FA Cup, and the Conference League in back-to-back seasons.
The South Londoners’ victory in the Conference League gives them a spot in the Europa League for 2026–2027 and marks the club’s first-ever season in European competition.
England’s domination of the Conference League is also maintained by Palace’s victory. Premier League clubs have won three of the competition’s five editions since it was established in the 2021–2022 season, including the past two.
London clubs have been responsible for all of those triumphs. After West Ham won the championship in 2023, Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea won the Conference League in 2025.
