Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has insisted he is very happy to be at the club.
There had been concerns over his future as the Spanish keeper had been a long term target for Real Madrid. Had it not been the fax machine incident the Spanish international could have been plying his trade for Los Blancos.
But the transfer of Thibaut Courtois to Santiago Bernabeu has put an end to all the speculations and the player’s future is looking sorted at this moment. The Spanish custodian has saved United numerous times and has started this season in an emphatic fashion.
The 27 year is on his last year of contract and although the club do have the option to trigger to extend a one year extension, the keeper is expected to put pen to paper to a long term contract.
De Gea said, “I feel really loved at this club. From the fans, from all the people who are for this club.
I am really happy to play for this club, one of the best clubs in the world. So for me, it’s really good to be part of this club.”
On being asked how he deals with criticism the former Atletico Madrid keeper answered, “Normally, I never listen to the people who speak about me.
“I am focused on my job and trying to help my team – try to improve every training session and try to be as good as I can, so I never listen to stupid things like this they say.”
