Everton striker Steven Naismith appears to be on his way out of the club and heading to Norfolk after an £8m deal, in principle, was agreed with Norwich City.

The Canaries have had their eyes on Naismith for some time, and he almost joined them at the end of the summer transfer window.

However, the deal was blocked by Toffees manager Roberto Martinez, as it was too close to the end of the window.

This did not end Norwich’s interest in the Scotland star, and it seems that a deal has finally been made.

They have apparently seen off interest from Aston Villa, Swansea City, Newcastle United and Sunderland, and Championship side Middlesbrough.

Personal terms have not yet been agreed between Norwich and Naismith.

Martinez earlier this month explained the reasons why Naismith did not make the move in August.

“I sat down with Steven Naismith in August and said, ‘You are too important to Everton to allow you to go at this stage,” said the Everton manager.

It now appears that Martinez’s stance has changed, should the personal terms be agreed.
