Germany boss could be heading to Goodison Park

Germany coach Joachim Low has been linked with a shock switch to Goodison Park, to take over an under-performing Everton side.

The Toffees are currently 11th in the league, with Roberto Martinez having failed to guide a talented group of players to within reach of a European spot, while Low’s odds of making a move to Merseyside have been slashed to 2/1.

Low, who made his Germany side the first European country to win the World Cup in South America, is understood to be interested in considering a move to a club side, with a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to interested parties.

However, it is understood the 56-year-old would only be interested in making a switch to a club either competing in the Champions League, or who are capable of qualifying for Europe’s elite club competition.

New shareholder Farhad Moshiri is set to bankroll ÂŁ200 million into the club, which would give Low the funds to make the Toffees a Champions League outfit.

But Low lacks experience of the Champions League, while Andres Villas-Boas is another option for the Merseysiders to consider, who had short stints with Chelsea and Tottenham. However, that is not understood to have put off the Everton board from considering appointing the Portuguese.

It seems like Martinez is set for an imminent departure, with a number of fans calling for his sacking, while the club held talks about the Spaniard’s future, earlier in the week.
