Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has sent out a warning to the rest of the league by stating that Hazard is not at his peak yet.

Hazard has been in terrific form this season since coming back from injury and has scored nine goals in his last 10 games for the Blues helping them to reach third place in the table.

The 26-year-old won the PFA player of the year award three seasons ago and arguably could have won it last season too.

But Conte has warned the league that Hazard is not at his peak yet. Conte, speaking about his desire for both Thibaut Courtois and Hazard to sign new contracts, revealed that Hazard could become even better.

“For me, these two players are two great players – especially because they have a lot of space for improvement. They are very young players and it will be great to keep them with us.

“I don’t think that Eden is at the peak of his career. I think he has a lot of improvement (to make). He is a young player and it’s important for him to work, work, work in every training session to improve himself.

“You are only at the top when you win the Ballon d’Or the first time, when you win the Champions League or when you win the World Cup. At that moment, you are a great player.”

Conte went on to say that he wanted the club to secure a new deal for Hazard making him the highest paid player at Chelsea ever.

Hazard has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract, but has attracted interest from Real Madrid whose manager Zinedine Zidane is an avid admirer of the Belgian.
