Leicester City will not pull the trigger on Claude Puel

According to the Irish Mirror, Claude Puel has been told by Leicester City that his future at the club is not under immediate threat amidst speculations revealing that the Frenchman is about to be sacked.

Those rumours were silenced by Leicester’s humbling of Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City in December but an incredible 4-3 loss against Wolves backed by defeats to 10-men Southampton and a humiliating exit from the FA Cup against Newport County have once again fuelled the speculations.

Puel, who took charge in October 2017, is contracted to the King Power Stadium till the end of 2020 and the club has confirmed that they are not thinking about pulling the trigger on him just yet.

The Mirror reports that the 57-year-old Frenchman will have time until the end of the season to turn the results in his favour.

Meanwhile, Leicester have continued with their bizarre trend of conceding goals early in the games, with Diogo Jota scoring within four minutes against them this week and Puel believes he will have to find a solution to that.

Puel assessed: “Often we concede the goal and then have difficulties to manage the game in the right way.

“We have to correct this.

“The inconsistencies at the start of the game, we cannot accept this.

“We will try other things to prepare our beginning to our games because it is a big shame because there is not always the possibility to come back into the game.”

Puel says Leicester’s players must now practise starting games better ahead of their next game at leaders Liverpool on January 30.

He added: “We can repeat things in training, simulate kicks and can have words but after it is the situation of the day of the game with the spirit, with the warm-up and all the right details.

“We have to give the first feeling with our intensity, to play forward, the first press, the first battle.”
