Premier League giants want Nicolas Acevedo

According to a report in Mirror, Premier League clubs are keeping a close eye on Uruguay starlet Nicolas Acevedo, with scouts from Liverpool and Manchester United set to watch the 19-year-0ld while he is on international duty.

Acevedo, who can play both in midfield and defence, currently plays his football in his native club Liverpool FC of Montevideo. The teenager is attracting interest from a host of European clubs, who are sending scouts to take a closer look at him.

The 19-year-old is in action in South American U-20 Championship in Chile, which started on the 20th of January. Uruguay will take on Argentina tonight. Expect few scouts to have a close eye on the player.

Other than Liverpool and United, London giants Arsenal and Chelsea along with Championship hopefuls Norwich City are also interested in the versatile midfielder. Italian side Udinese have been scouting this competition in the past few years with great effect.

Acevedo has featured twice for Uruguay, both times operating at the base of the midfield, and dropping back to defence when required.

We have seen South American talents being tracked by European scouts in the past. A player from Uruguay will always give his 100% whenever he steps on to the pitch, and Acevedo is no different. Such is the passion and desire for football in the continent.

If an English club do manage to get him in the near-future, it would be a fantastic signing for them as the 19-year-old possesses the qualities to be a top player in the coming years.
