Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that the club are set to hold talks with Mario Gotze regarding his future at the end of the season.

Gotze, 23, has been linked with a move to England, with Liverpool thought to be especially keen.

And the German international is said to be keen to try his skills in the Premier League.

‘We are in the important weeks of the season, so we concentrate on the here and now,’ Rummenigge told Schwabische Zeitung.

‘When all the games are done, Mario is invited to come to my office and speak with Bayern on his future.

‘Everything else is speculative.

‘Neither Mario nor his agent has expressed themselves about this subject.”

World Cup winner Gotze worked under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund. Indeed, it was Klopp who brought Gotze into the Dortmund first-team, after he worked his way up through the club’s youth system.

When the pair were at Dortmund, Gotze played a number of roles in the 4-2-3-1 formation adopted by Klopp, and Gotze can adapt to playing on either wing, as an attacking midfielder, or even as a false nine.
