Fresh speculation has been cast over the future of Manchester United’s Memphis Depay after the winger was omitted from their FA Cup Final squad, claims the Manchester Evening News.

Memphis, 22, has had a disappointing first season at Old Trafford since arriving last summer from PSV Eindhoven for ÂŁ25m.

He has struggled for form, playing time, and confidence, and now this omission could spell the end for a player who arrived in Manchester with big expectations.

United manager Louis van Gaal, whose own Red Devils future is under intense scrutiny after failing to lead the club back into the Champions League, named his matchday squad for Saturday’s Wembley showpiece with Crystal Palace yesterday, the list of eighteen names not including the Dutch international.

Depay did not even travel with the club from their Carrington training base today.

He has only managed two league goals from 29 appearances for United, however he fared slightly better in Europe, with five goals in 11 games.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are also not expected to feature on Saturday, but it is the absence of Depay which is the most surprising, with LVG appearing to favour Ashley Young.
