The agent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, strongly tipped to sign for Manchester United, has insisted that a deal is not yet complete.

The maverick Swede is currently a free agent after leaving Paris St Germain at the end of the season, leaving after helping them beat Marseille 4-2 in the French Cup Final.

With the arrival of Jose Mourinho as the new manager at Old Trafford, Ibrahimovic was reportedly set to follow suit, although he has been linked with a move to China as well as clubs across Europe.

But Mino Raiola, Zlatan’s agent, is remaining coy about the player’s future, though insisted that any club who wanted him would have to spend big.

“There are some clubs in England, a few clubs in Europe, some outside Europe, but everyone assumes he must go to Manchester United and it’s not true,” Raiola told Swedish newspaper Expressen.

“We could well pull a surprise at the end. Will he retire? Absolutely not.

“Ibrahimovic is a star and the club that gets him doesn’t need to pay a transfer fee,” Raiola added.

“That means Ibrahimovic, who just finished a record season at PSG, can get an extra-high salary. He is in a good bargaining position.

“It is not important to get something done quickly, as I care only about arranging a move based on quality.

“We are not in a hurry.  It’s about doing the right thing at the right time.  Let’s see what happens.”
