Nottingham Forest is contemplating legal action over an alleged unlawful approach for Morgan Gibbs-White, which has put a halt to the player’s anticipated £60 million move to Tottenham.

By claiming that Spurs’ actions regarding the prospective trade have been improper, Forest is also getting ready to file a complaint with the Premier League. Before completing the relocation, Gibbs-White was supposed to undergo a medical examination on Friday.

Since they feel they have not given Spurs permission to communicate with Gibbs-White and that there has been a breach of confidentiality about the release clause in the England midfielder’s contract, Forest is speaking with attorneys about potential legal action. In an effort to strengthen Thomas Frank’s team, Spurs, who acquired Mohammed Kudus from West Ham on Thursday, still intend to move forward with the deal.

They have also been pursuing Crystal Palace and England player Eberechi Eze this summer. Their rivals Arsenal, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Southampton’s Tyler Dibling are all interested in him. When reached, Tottenham and Forest declined to comment. Although Forest believes the agreement is off, their rage might just postpone rather than stop the move.

Super-agent shares what Tottenham may have to do now

It appeared that a move might be made earlier this week, but Forest has contacted the Premier League to temporarily halt it. The infamous Sol Campbell to Arsenal transfer is only one of the many transfers that super-agent Sky Andrew has been involved in over the years.

In an interview with talkSPORT, the agent disclosed that Tottenham will likely need to pay more than Gibbs-White’s £60 million release clause in order for the transfer to proceed.

He stated, “The problem, gentlemen, is that it’s really hard to prove that a club approached a player directly without the club’s consent. Here, we’re delving into everything from phone records to everything else.

If it proceeds to arbitration, Forest will have to demonstrate that the club spoke with the player or agent personally, which must adhere to football rules and regulations. Most clubs are aware that proving it is quite challenging.

Now, the question is how much the purchasing team will pay for the athlete. The amount will likely need to be greater than £60 million.
