Divock Origi netted an injury-time equaliser as Liverpool battled to claim a point against West Bromwich Albion today at Anfield.

The Reds went into this Premier League encounter looking to close the gap on the top four teams.

Manager Jürgen Klopp made four changes from the Europa League side that drew with Sion: Martin Skrtel, Christian Benteke, Alberto Moreno and Philippe Coutinho returning to the starting line up.

Meanwhile, the Baggies were looking for only their third win in 26 trips to Anfield in league competition.

Two changes for the visitors saw Stephane Sessegnon, missing through injury, replaced by Craig Gardner while Jonny Evans came in for Claudio Yacob.

It was Liverpool who had the first chance on three minutes when Coutinho blazed his shot over the bar.

On 21 minutes, Liverpool were in front. Coutinho swept in a cross that was knocked down by Adam Lallana for captain Jordan Henderson to fire home from six yards.

The first half-hour was dominated by the hosts, so it was a bit of a surprise when WBA equalised.

They could thank Liverpool goalkeeper for drawing level, as the Belgian failed to claim the ball from a corner, allowing Craig Dawson to poke home.

And the visitors almost went in at the break in front, Jonas Olsson netting from a Gardner free-kick. The goal was ruled out however , for offside.

The second half started with two chances spurned by Benteke. The Belgian striker first headed a Moreno cross over the bar, before shooting wide with a half-volley.

And the home side were made to pay for missing those chances when Brom took the lead on 73 minutes, Olsson heading home from a Chris Brunt corner.

Liverpool suffered a blow when Dejan Lovren was taken off with his leg in a brace after colliding with Gardner.

After Lallana was denied by Boaz Myhill in the Baggies goal, the home crowd must have feared the worst.

But their fears were eased when Origi dramatically fired home a deflected 25-yard effort to send the Reds fans home relieved.

The result leaves Liverpool in ninth place on 24 points, while Tony Pulis’ men are in thirteenth position, four points behind their hosts.
