On March 29, Igor Tudor departed Tottenham following a terrible tenure that failed to provide the squad the much-needed boost for Premier League survival. After a string of tactical disputes and a lack of progress in the team’s overall league position—the north Londoners were now in 17th place—his resignation was announced by mutual consent. The Croat and Spurs have “mutually agreed” to split ways with “immediate effect”, according to Spurs.
The decision was made one week after Spurs suffered a devastating 3-0 home loss to fellow struggling Nottingham Forest on March 22. With seven games left, the result placed Spurs in 17th position in the standings and only one point above the relegation spots. Since Tudor took over for the fired Thomas Frank on February 14 on a contract that would last until the end of the season, Tottenham has lost five of their last seven games in all competitions.
The Spurs stated, “An update on a new head coach will be provided in due course.” According to BBC Sport, Spurs will choose Tudor’s successor in the next days so that it will be ready when the majority of players return from their international commitments. Bruno Saltor, Tudor’s assistant, will be in charge of the club members’ training.

But when former Monaco manager Adi Hutter ruled himself out on Sunday night, the search for a new manager got off to a rough start. Since quitting the principality club in October, the 56-year-old Austrian has been unemployed. He made his views quite plain in a statement.
Roberto De Zerbi and Sean Dyche are the clear favourites to take over at Spurs. The Telegraph claims that Chris Hughton, Tim Sherwood, and—in one of the most unexpected suggestions—current Spurs defender Ben Davies might potentially be taken into consideration. Other names that raise eyebrows have also been mentioned.
Mauricio Pochettino, who would have been interested following this summer’s World Cup, is essentially ruled out by Tottenham’s urgent need to choose a permanent manager in order to prevent another Tudor scenario.
