Thomas Frank has been confirmed by Tottenham as their new manager. Joining from Brentford on a deal that expires in 2028, the 51-year-old Dane replaces Ange Postecoglou, who ended Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought with Europa League glory but was fired due to poor Premier League records.

Before firing Postecoglou last Friday, Spurs lined up Frank. They held negotiations through intermediaries and were obviously eager to avoid a drawn-out search for the player who might guide them ahead following a season in which they ended 17th with 38 points. Their league record was the worst in the club’s history, and that was in 1914–15.

Due to a £10 million release clause in his contract, Spurs knew he was within their reach when Frank, who has excelled with his performance as Brentford’s manager during a nearly seven-year period, granted the go-ahead. The last few days have been devoted to settling the finer points and transferring some of Frank’s Brentford-based instructors.

Frank replaces Postecoglou as Tottenham head coach

“Working with Thomas has been enjoyable,” Giles said on Brentford’s official website. “He grasped what we were trying to create as soon as he took Dean Smith’s place, and his insight, coaching prowess, and emotional intelligence have contributed to the club’s transformation.

“But just as when a player leaves, it gives someone else a chance to enter and have an impact of their own.” Although we will always remember Thomas, it is now time to give him our gratitude and move forward with a new leader we think has the potential to be equally effective and significant.

According to Tottenham’s announcement announcing Frank’s appointment, Joe Newton, the first team coach analyst; Chris Haslam, the head of performance and first team assistant coach; and Justin Cochrane, the first team assistant coach, will join the Dane from Brentford. Manchester United’s assistant coach for the first team, Andreas Georgson, also joins the backroom staff.
