Roberto De Zerbi has been officially appointed as Tottenham Hotspur’s next head coach on a long-term deal. The 46-year-old Italian has agreed to a five-year contract. When Tottenham travels to play Sunderland in the Premier League on April 12, De Zerbi will manage his debut game.

They are presently one point above the relegation zone in 17th place in the rankings. De Zerbi now has the direct responsibility of guiding the squad out of danger in the last weeks of the season. Speaking upon the confirmation of his appointment, De Zerbi expressed enthusiasm for the task at hand.

He declared, “I am thrilled to be joining this fantastic football club, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world.” “The club’s leadership has always expressed a clear vision for the future in our conversations.”

According to De Zerbi, his first goal will be to raise Tottenham’s standing in the league. “Climbing the Premier League table is our short-term priority,” he continued. “Until the final whistle of the season’s final game, that will be the sole focus.”

The Italian is the team’s first choice, according to Johan Lange, sports director of Tottenham. “We are thrilled to bring Roberto in now, as he was our top target for the summer,” Lange stated. “He is among the most innovative and progressive football coaches in the world.”

De Zerbi takes over as Tottenham’s third manager of the year. He takes over for Igor Tudor, who departed the club after a brief tenure as manager. Before Tottenham made another move, Tudor managed just one point in five Premier League games.

Since departing Olympique Marseille earlier this year, De Zerbi has been without a team. In the past, Brighton & Hove Albion helped him establish his reputation in England. He led the team to their best-ever Premier League result and their first-ever European qualifying.

Before Brighton, he was employed at Shakhtar Donetsk and Sassuolo. On April 18, Tottenham will play Brighton in his second game as manager. After a tumultuous season, Tottenham hopes that De Zerbi’s hiring can settle the team. Making sure the team gets Premier League status before the season ends will be the first focus.
