Neymar will not play in the opening Ligue 1 fixture against Nimes, as he is set for exit.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has revealed that the club are in advanced talks regarding Neymar’s departure.

The Brazilian star is said to be unsettled in France and has been linked with a move back to Spain this summer, to either Barcelona or Real Madrid in particular.

“Talks are more advanced than before,” Leonardo was quoted as saying by French newspaper L’Equipe. The 49-year-old has underlined, however, that there is not yet a concrete agreement with any team.

“We will see what happens, everybody needs the future to be resolved.”

The tension between those two has continued to rise the past days. The latest episode came last week, as the squad was in China ahead of the French Super Cup. Leonardo came to the training facilities to meet and encourage the players. He shook hands with everybody except one person, Neymar.

The 27-year-old ace and Leonardo don’t see eye to eye and there was a major argument in the dressing room at the start of preseason. The former Milan director’s plan was to fly out to China in order to smooth over things but considering this latest incident, it would have all been a waste of time.

Neymar joined PSG in 2017 when the club, owned by the wealthy Qatar Sports Investments, paid  €222 million to Neymar so that he could buy himself out of his contract. The striker has scored 34 league goals in two seasons for the French giants, although injuries interrupted both of those campaigns.
