In their final group match against Poland on Tuesday, France hopes to welcome back Kylian Mbappe and find their goal-scoring form. France looks almost certain to make it to the last 16 of Euro 2024.

Even though France coach Didier Deschamps seemed hopeful that his star forward could play while wearing a face mask, Mbappé suffered a broken nose in France’s opening 1-0 win over Austria and did not come off the bench for the 0-0 draw with the Netherlands on Friday.

As his teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni mentioned, France’s captain, Kylian Mbappé, is getting used to donning his new protective mask in preparation for a potential comeback to action on Tuesday against Poland at Euro 2024. Although he would obviously prefer not to wear it, I believe the doctor would tell you there is nothing you can do. That won’t, however, make a difference for him. We are confident that he will significantly benefit the team when he is on the field.”

France has so far failed to find the net in Germany; it beat Austria in its opener courtesy of an own goal and drew 0-0 with the Netherlands, so coach Didier Deschamps will be tempted to bring Mbappe back against Poland.

Netherlands sits at the top of Group D, having scored more goals than the French. Turkey currently holds the second-placed spot in Group F, where the group winner will play them. In Group E, Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, and Ukraine are all tied for third place with three points apiece. The team that finishes second will play the team that finishes third. If France finish in third place, it could face England or Spain in the last 16.
