The Dutchman has expressed his desire to stay in his homeland until the end of the season.

Donny Van de Beek has declared his commitment to Ajax.

Donny van de Beek was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but the Ajax midfielder ultimately ended up staying put at the Johan Cryuff ArenA. The Holland international has attracted interest from  Manchester United and Tottenham as well.

However, the 22-year-old has insisted that he will be staying put at the Dutch club until the remainder of the campaign.

“I don’t want to leave during the January transfer window,” Van de Beek told Voetbal International. “I will play here until the end of the season, I will finish the year at Ajax. That gives me peace of mind. We will see what happens later.

“Do they know that in Madrid? Surely everyone knows. I don’t like the idea of changing teams mid-season.”

Clearly the extent of the rumours in the summer affected the midfielder, which he is glad to see the back of, for the next few months at least.

“There was so much talk and writing,” he noted. “I’m very happy that’s all over because I am able to concentrate on Ajax. I always try to give my best. The club look out for my interests. I’m happy to be valued and I want to reward that faith with new triumphs.”

Van de Beek has shone at Ajax as part of Erik ten Hag’s talented young team that claimed a domestic league-cup double last season. The 22-year-old racked up 12 goals for Ajax in 2018-19 and was also the top midfielder in the league when it came to assists.
