The Spanish international has been playing in Italy for six years.

Now the Napoli winger could be set to leave the Serie A outfit for free, according to his agent.

Jose Callejon is one of the most successful foreign players in Napoli’s history, repaying their €10 million investment in 2013 with 79 goals, 70 assists and a Coppa Italia, as well as playing a key role in their revival as a Serie A force. However, the Spaniard turns 33 in February and his current deal expires at the end of the season.

Now, the player’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has admitted that while the forward could sign a new contract with Napoli, their opening offer didn’t satisfy the player’s demands.

“He can sign a new contract, but we don’t want to mess about it,” Quilon told CalcioNapoli24. “Napoli haven’t called me for a month. I suppose we will hear from them again, now that the transfer window has shut. They made us an opening offer, but it didn’t satisfy the conditions of the player.”

In case the Spaniard fails to extend his Italy stay, La Liga sides Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are considering to lure him back to Spain. According to reports from Elgoldigital, both Spanish clubs will closely follow the player and the situation regarding his relationship with the Naples-based club.
