Jose Mourinho heading back to Real Madrid?

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been in touch with Real Madrid about a sensational return to the Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.

Mourinho has endured a turbulent season so far with the Premier League champions.

The Eva Carneiro saga, run-ins with the FA, and indifferent form on the pitch have all contributed to Chelsea’s struggles.

Reports of a player mutiny have not helped the Special One’s cause either.

And Spanish media outlet Fichajes claims that Mourinho has been in touch with Real president Florentino Perez.

Jose may well decide he has had enough at the Bridge and return to Madrid, where he may feel he has unfinished business.

Mourinho left the Spanish side under a cloud in 2013. He won one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Spanish Super Cup.

The reign was marked partly by battles with the Spanish media, as well as UEFA, including being fined  £33,500 for appearing to instruct Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos to attempt to receive a tactical second yellow card in the 4–0 Champions League win against Ajax in 2010.

After a 2013 tie with Borussia Dortmund, Mourinho stated in a press conference : “I am loved by some clubs, especially one. In Spain it is different, some people hate me, many of you in this (press) room.”

He also had fallouts with Ramos and goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Some sections of Real’s fanbase appear to have had enough of current boss Rafa Benitez, and the club may look to Mourinho to bring them back closer to Barcelona.
