La Liga club Valencia’s defender Ezequiel Garay has become the first player in Spain to get tested positive for COVID-19.

The Argentinian defender who formerly played for Real Madrid is one of the five members in the Valencia squad to have been tested positive. The Valencia communications team refused to confirm or deny whether any other player has been tested positive.

“I have tested positive for the coronavirus,” Garay wrote on a social media account Sunday. “I feel well and now the only thing to do is to follow the instructions of health officials to remain confined.”

Two other staff members from Alaves have also contracted the disease. However, Alaves have also stated that they are both in better health now.

The La Liga chiefs have had to suspend the league since the spread of the virus started affecting people seriously.

Europe has now become the epicentre of the disease and people are worried more about lives than the football league.

Garay is expected to recover as most adults who have been infected are of old age, have health conditions and low immunity. Even if younger and fitter people have been affected, they are likely to recover much faster.

Callum Hudson-Odoi who was also diagnosed with CoVID-19 and recovered within 2 hours.
