Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has reportedly agreed a 1-year extension on his contract at the club.

The Bernanbeu custodian was rumoured to be on the verge of an exit with many clubs like Arsenal interested in him. However, earlier today Gunners boss Unai Emery confirmed that Arsenal have not made any official bid for Navas and he is happy with the players he has at his disposal. “We never speak about one goalkeeper because I think – and it’s true – we are very happy with the three goalkeepers we have now. We’ve never spoken about Keylor Navas,” Emery stated in today’s press conference.

Navas’ deal was supposed to end with the 2019-20 campaign, but Real Madrid has decided to extend the player’s contract for one more season which will see him stay at the club till 2020-21. The Costa Rican custodian will reportedly earn just over $5M after signing this extension. Navas however, is no longer the first choice keeper at the Bernabeu.

He signed from Levante after impressing with Costa Rica in the World Cup and helped the Real Madrid team under coach Zinedine Zidane to 3 consecutive Champions League titles. However, the arrival of Thibaut Courtois has seen him lose his spot, which triggered rumours of him looking for a new team.
