FC Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazilian will join the Bundesliga giants on an initial loan deal for one season with Bayern having the option to buy him on a permanent basis next season. The deal was broken to the media earlier by Barcelona and now Bayern also have confirmed it on their website. However, the deal is yet to be finalized with a pending medical for the player.
Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was delighted to have made such a classy acquisition and said, “The name doesn’t matter, only the quality.” Bayern have been looking for wingers to replace the recently retired duo of Franc Ribery and Arjen Robben this season. However, the club failed to land Leroy Sane and has now settled instead with loan deals for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic and Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho is Barcelona’s record buy but has failed to impact at the club in one and a half seasons at the Nou Camp so far. The Brazilian, who has loads of potential to rank amongst the top ten players in the world will want to get back to his best game quickly at his new home.
